“We have to have an open mind when we are looking at new technologies because we have to find out very quickly whether they are going to be able to do what they promise they can do, and with JAIN Logic, we have chosen to go with that system because it actually does work”

Simon Marriott - Romsey Farm, VIC

Simon Marriott runs sheep and dry land crops on his property in Romsey, Victoria where he uses a combination of Soil Moisture and Weather monitoring solutions to gain Agronomic insights that help with his decision making process.

“Last year’s crops were disappointing, with poor quality bales, dry and lacking nutrients. This year’s crops have improved dramatically… Good seed, moisture levels, and quality nutrients just by knowing what’s going below the soil. When to water, add nutrients and when to cut and bale for bumper crops.”

Gary Wight - Wight's Dairy, VIC

Gary Wight - Wight's Dairy, VIC

Gary Wight used to spend 2 - 3 days a week irrigating his land, a lot of the work occurring through the night and requiring him to be on hand at all hours to ensure irrigation events occurred as planned. Employing extra labor to assist in irrigation could not be justified, as labour costs outweighed the returns gained over the season. The alternative, was to invest in farm automation technology, that would reduce labor costs, send 24/7 alerts to Gary and provide peace of mind by logging into an app on his mobile to check on his system.

“Now, that we’ve got an automated system (that) runs all the night it means I don’t have to get up, weekends I’ve got free and even structurally if I’ve got a meeting on... I can go, knowing that it’s going to operate on its own in the background.”
